A new academic year started at Kutaisi University on September 16. The atmosphere of excited expectation and preparation could be felt from early in the morning in the University building and premises. All the students, professors and staff joined in their effort to create celebratory mood for everyone. Information and photographs displayed on easels apart from creating visual effect reflected the stages of the development of the University and told its history succinctly.The audience was welcomed by the Rector, Professor Lela Kelbakiani, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Kakhaber Gabelashvili and Chair of Student Self-governance Diana Jgarkava. Mr. Konstantine Lomidze,Vice Mayor of Kutaisi greeted the young people and wished them a productive academic year and future success. The honour of raising the University flag to the accompaniment of the University anthem fell to the winner of the university grant Ketevan Bochorishvili. New scholarships were also announced at this celebratory meeting. This part of the event was concluded when the first-year students received souvenirs. Then the young people went to the conference hall to attend a presentation organized for them. The celebration did not end even after that. In the evening the University administration invited all the students to a special event.
